June 20, 2020 event cancelled, August 15th event still on schedule.

Saxonburg, PA – Penn’s Colony Association announces the cancellation of Wine Time at the Colony, scheduled for June 20, 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak. Featuring wineries, food and artisans, the nine-year-old festival has grown into a Father’s Day weekend tradition.

“Our customers, artisans and employees are the priority,” said Beth Ann Rush, co-organizer of Wine Time at the Colony. “As we continue to follow the guidelines of public health officials and Governor Wolf during the early opening stage of the coronavirus pandemic, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel the June 20th event in the interest of public health and our community.”

The bi-annual Wine Time opens the festival season at the same location where Penn’s Colony Festival takes place in the fall. The next Wine Time, set for August 15, and the 37th Penn’s Colony Festival, set for September 19, 20, 26 and 27, remain on schedule.

The pandemic and forced cancellations take away a much-needed opportunity for 17 wineries and 30 artisans in food and handcraft. These independent, small businesses are an integral part of the local economies in central and western Pennsylvania, and western New York. “The exhibitors agree this is the best decision and everyone is focusing on the next Wine Time at the Colony scheduled August 15,” added Rush.

The Penn’s Colony Grounds are located at 365 Saxonburg Boulevard, Saxonburg, PA 16056, just off Route 228 East, 1 mile outside Saxonburg, 30 minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh. During the last two weekends in September, Penn’s Colony re-creates a village filled with 180 artists and craftsmen in the midst of a Colonial harvest festival surrounded by Pennsylvania’s French and Indian era history. The Wine Time events were added in 2012. For information visit WineTimeAtTheColony.com, PennsColony.com or call 724-352-9922.
